Having a blast!

It's been a GREAT few months with AR, Rob, Corey, Mike and myself. In a nut shell, Mullet Over is going very well! We have been gigging out nearly every weekend, sometimes twice a week. Even though it's exhausting sometimes, the fun we have, the fans we meet and the money we bring in makes it SO worth it!

This last weekend our good friend, Jeff, brought his audio visual toys, including his Go Pro attached to Mike's guitar neck! I can hardly wait to see the final product! We have also been recording ourselves during gigs with our new Zoom. The quality is actually pretty good! We'll post some to our website under "give a listen" for your audio enjoyment.

Later this month we do our first wedding reception. That's going to be a blast! As well as our 2nd year at the Block Party in downtown Terre Haute coming up, and returning to some of our favorite venues. One of the most exciting things coming up is playing at the new venue in Terre Haute called Ripley's! That's going to be so much fun!

In general, we're just pumped about all that has happened and all that is coming up! I couldn't ask for a better group of guys to work with. Of course I'm partial to my husband Mike and son Corey, but the laughter and talent that AR and Rob bring to our band is priceless!! Not to mention the help of our staff and friends Jimmy, Bobbie, John and Jeff. Proud to call them my friends!

Check our events page, and come see us soon! We love meeting you! Thanks for all your support!

It's been a great beginning with our new singer, AR Fulkerson! Here is a picture from our first day out with him. We played 2 gigs that Saturday - a private birthday bash from 12-3, then a fundraiser in another city from 7-10. A good time was had by all and gigs are being booked at record speed! This is the first time Mullet Over has be heard in about 3 months, and the results have been amazing! Thank you faithful fans and SO MANY new fans! Hope to see you at an event soon!

It's been an interesting few months for Mullet Over. For a short time we teamed up with our good friend, Scott Webster, in an attempt to have a male singer added, and try out our hand at country. We realized our hands do not like country and although Scott is a great singer and friend, his heart is in country and so there his heart goes! Good luck, Scotty Dog!

Our lead singer, Natalie, had been juggling life with a new baby for many months, and finally the new baby won....as she should! Natalie leaving left us with with an opening for a lead singer. After 7 auditions, we feel like we've found Terre Haute's best kept secret...A.R. Fulkerson! Actually, tonight was the first practice with him and we couldn't be more pleased.

After getting up to speed, which won't take very long, we'll start booking gigs again. For now, you can for sure see us at a benefit concert at the Clinton Eagle's on April 13th, for Kid Kare Project. We start at 7 and play till 9!

Thanks for sticking with us and there's only good things to come!

Ahhh the great outdoors

The next few gigs we will be playing are scheduled to be out doors. We played outside last weekend at the Bad Apple Saloon and it was a little chilly but not too bad. Near the end of the night, we had a little trouble moving our fingers but the biggest change I experienced was how cold my saxophone got! Not sure how we're going to remedy that problem with the next few gigs.

We'll be at the air force base this Saturday, outside. The temperature is expected to be in the low 40s to high 30s. Wow! Then the next weekend we're expected to play outside at A Stone's Throw but there is a possibility of playing indoors - if we can fit! Small place. The following weekend is a private party, on Oct. 26th, outside again. Who knows what it will be like! Could be 30 or 80!

I'll post some pictures of how we kept warm!

Update: Thankfully we were moved inside at the Indiana National Guard last night, and we were happy to ROCK the place even if we were a little too warm at times! No complaints!

Update: Woo hoo! We were inside again last night at A Stone's Throw. It was a teeny tiny stage - maybe 10x10. We could literally touch each other without holding out our arms all the way! But it was a blast and the audience was a lot of fun. Always fun to play there! One more outdoors party scheduled for this coming weekend...stay tuned!

Update: The third outside party was rescheduled! We lucked out for sure :)

Downtown Terre Haute Block Party 2012

Last night’s Block Party was a great time! There were a lot of our friends there plus we made some new friends and new fans. We even got a couple tshirts out there! The weather was perfect. 70′s with a breeze. Awesome! Just like with any gig, we are proud of the over all way we performed, but also note some needs for change and improvements. It’s always a learning experience! One of the things I learned is that flat bed semi trailers BOUNCE! Especially when you’re standing on the end that doesn’t have the cab! At one point Mike thought he was going to be bounced off the end! That was interesting

I also want to give a shout out to those behind the scenes who make it possible for Mullet Over to exist. Jimmy Legacie – our former sound man, current light man and all time favorite roadie. You are the man, even without a flashlight Matt McLeish, our new sound man, technical aid and roadie. Like Mike said, you are invaluable. Thank you. Isaac McLeish, you are always willing to pack up the basement when it’s time, and carry stuff out, and help set up, and play acoustic guitar when needed (AWESOME LAST NIGHT!) and unload and set it all up again. You are very faithful. Bobbie Gilonske, our BAND AID, who helps set up, tear down, and walks around selling raffle tickets and being the best band aid we could ever want. Finally, John Asher a.k.a. MULLET MAN! You are  our security guard and end of the night muscle man. Without you, our backs would hurt and we’d be less secure. Thank you! You guys are all great, not to mention our kids and relatives who helps us whenever they are around. Priceless!

We’re thankful to be involved in the Block Party this year and hope to be back again next year!

Big Day!! Block Party Day!! Currently, Mike and one son are at the stage unloading load #1. I’m printing up the set list for tonight. Kids are tearing down and carrying stuff outside. Natalie is headed to the stage with a couple guys to help out, and Rob and Corey are working their normal jobs at a pool store and an auto sports store. We have this “well” planned out and hope it goes as smoothly as it could!

Every rose, every band

Every rose has a thorn. Every band has a blog. Or so it seems. So here we are! I am Cindy, a member of Mullet Over, and I will be your blog host for the remainder of the time.

We recently recorded all 4 sets of a gig, for the first time, audio and visual. I’m not sure how many bands do this, but we love it. It’s great to see how we can improve on our performance, and also pat each other on the back for what we’ve done well!

Coming up this weekend is our “big gig”. We have considered everything we’ve done up to this time to be preparation for this gig. It’s the Downtown Terre Haute Block Party. We’ll be at 7th and Wabash, the Crossroads of America, from 10-1 Saturday the 25th.

Pictures and updates will be posted after this Saturday! Looking forward to sharing a little more than I do on facebook, for those of you who like a little more!
